LES PARISIENNES: ARE THEY STILL WORTH IT?

Guerlain has just released its 18th fragrance in the Parisienne line, called Baiser de Russie ("Russian kiss").

The fact that Guerlain openly states that it's a reissue of a previously discontinued fragrance, namely Randa Hammami's Moscow from 2009, marks a return to how this line was originally presented in 2005: as a collection of reissued scents like Liu, Derby, Guet-Apens, and Philtre d'Amour, that fans had been missing for quite a while. Guerlain enthusiasts were very excited — back then.

We can ask ourselves if Les Parisiennes still have the same appeal. Guerlain disappointed us in 2016 by not being honest about the previous Parisienne addition, which was a reissue of the former Aqua Allegoria Figue-Iris by Marie Salamagne. Also, Guerlain now releases more than ten new fragrances every year, and discontinues nearly just as many, so our hunger for olfactive variety these days is more than satisfied. Lastly, Guerlain has increased the price of a Parisienne by 75 percent since 2005, which certainly cools our enthusiasm for the line.
